2018 International symposium on the peaceful use of space technology was successfully held in Wenchang, Hainan

From January 28 to 31, 2018, the International Symposium on the Peaceful Use of Space Technology was successfully held in the China Space City, Wenchang, Hainan. Astronauts, space scientists, space medical experts and scholars from China, the United States, and Russia conducted in-depth exchanges around the theme of "peaceful use of space technology and development of human health and medical care." This conference, sponsored by the China Space Foundation, supported by the International Cooperation Center of the State Development and Reform Commission, and hosted by Joneson Group, aims to build a new platform for international exchanges and cooperation in the peaceful use of space technology.

Attending the conference are Wu Zhijian, chairman of the China Space Foundation; Cao Wenlian, director of the International Cooperation Center of the State Development and Reform Commission; Lin Zongtang, former minister of the Ministry of Aeronautics and Space Industry of China; Yang Liwei, astronaut and deputy director of China Manned Space Office; Li Yinghui, academician of the International Astronautical Society; Neil Bushu, Chairman of the Points of Life Foundation; Wayne Keathley, Vice President of Baylor Medical School, CEO of Baylor's Center for Global Health; David Alexander, Director of Space Medicine at Rice University; Bernard Harris, American astronaut and director of Texas Medical Center; Alec Orlov, President of the Russian Institute of Biological Issues; Galina, Russian space biological scientist and academician of the International Academy of Astronautics; Vitaly Affi Arnie, former director of the Archives of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Ozorovic, Assistant to the President of the Russian Academy of Aerospace; Alek Vavilov, general manager of the Russian Martian Company, and nearly 20 astronauts, more than 20 space scientists and space medical experts from China, the United States and Russia.

Wu Zhijian, chairman of the China Space Foundation, delivered an opening address on behalf of the organizers of this international symposium. First of all, on behalf of the China Space Foundation, Chairman Wu Zhijian extended a warm welcome to the experts, scholars, astronauts and special guests from the United States, Russia and China in space technology and health medicine who have come from afar to this beautiful seaside city to attend this international symposium on the peaceful use of space technology.

In his opening speech, Chairman Wu Zhijian stressed that the China Space Foundation had been actively engaged in international exchanges of science, technology and culture in the space field, funded China's aerospace academic exchanges and talent training, and carried out space science education. The theme of this International Symposium on the Peaceful Use of Space Technology in Wenchang, Hainan, China, was "peaceful use of space technology and development of human health and medical care". The Symposium had invited astronauts, scientists, experts and scholars in the field of space technology, health care, and other fields from China, the United States and Russia to come to Wenchang, Hainan, China, to exchange their experience of space technology and peaceful use, and to discuss the methods and paths of applying space technology to the transformation of human health care and scientific and technological achievements in an inclusive, open, shared and friendly way and from different angles and sides, as well as to try and contribute to building a new platform for international cooperation and exchange in the field of space among China, the United States and Russia. 

In the end, Chairman Wu Zhijian expressed the hope that all experts, scholars and distinguished guests at the meeting would make suggestions for promoting the peaceful use of space technology in the light of the concept of equal exchange, tolerance, sharing, peace and friendship, and make out our voice and initiative for the development of human health and medical care, and for the world peace. 

At the meeting, experts and scholars from China, the United States, and Russia had in-depth exchanges on the development and peaceful use of space technology, and shared their experiences on the peaceful use of space technology in the field of health care, and focused on the effective methods and paths to apply space technology to human life and health, medical treatment, medicine and biological chains, which was a useful attempt to build a new platform for international exchange and cooperation among China, the United States and Russia in the field of space exploration. 

As an achievement of this conference, all participating parties have taken a joint initiative: China, the United States and Russia, together with other governments, international organizations and enterprises, are working together to promote the peaceful use of space technology for world peace and human health, will launch the "World Space Conference", and jointly participate in and promote the three demonstration projects of "World Space City", "Coastal International Financial Center" and "Space Medical University" in Hainan.
