The 2nd Preparatory Meeting for the 2nd International Summit on Peaceful Use of Space Technology (Health) was held in Beijing

On April 22-23, the 2nd preparatory meeting for the 2nd International Summit on Peaceful Use of Space Technology (Health) was held at the Presidential Hotel in Beijing.

 

The meeting was held on the basis of the 1st International Symposium on Peaceful Use of Space Technology and the 1st preparatory meeting for the 2nd International Summit in January and May 2018. More than 60 people from the space agencies, medical health and industrial integration fields, astronauts, experts and scholars from China, the United States, Russia, the European Union (France) and other countries attended the conference. Lin Zongtang, former minister of National Aeronautics and Astronautics, honorary chairman of the conference, and Liu Jiyuan, vice chairman of the International Academy of Astronautics, honorary chairman of the conference, attended the meeting; Bao Weimin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director of China High-tech Industrialization Research Institute, Yang Baohua, Academician of the International Academy of Astronautics, Vice Chairman of the International Astronautical Federation, and Yang Liwei, former director of the China Manned Space Office, congratulated on the convening of the preparatory meeting in different ways and put forward many constructive opinions on the preparations for the summit. Vice Minister Chen Rui from the Academic Department of the China Association for Science and Technology came to the site for guidance.

 

Space Foundation, International Academy of Astronautics, the Association of Space Explorers, Rice University, International Space Health Summit, Institute of Medical and Biological Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Aerospace Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Skolkovo Institute of Technology, Toulouse Space City, Italy's Amati Foundation are partners of the summit. Steven Eisenhart, Vice President of Space Foundation, Andy Turnage, Secretary General of the Association of Space Explorers, Neil Bush, Chairman of Bush China-US Relations Foundation, and other authoritative experts attended the meeting and joined in the delegation with members of the International Peace Alliance (Space) to conduct field visits to Guangdong, Hainan and Macao. Asian chairman of the Association of Space Explorers, Japanese astronaut, Soichi Noguchi, as well as his wife, attended the later meetings and related inspections.

 

Participants conducted in-depth discussions on the theme of “trends and prospects for the peaceful use of space technology”, reached a consensus, and signed a memorandum of meeting. It is clear that the purpose of the summit is to make peaceful use of space technology (health); the positioning of the summit is a non-governmental, health-related (including but not limited to) and international platform; the goal is to make the summit a world-oriented conference of academic exchange, scientific and technological achievements exchange and technology products trading through the efforts of all the parties to realize the deep integration of aerospace science and technology with aerospace industry as well as the seamless integration of aerospace products with market in an open and fair manner; the guiding principle is conforming to the historical trend of industrialization, internationalization and marketization of space technology, from the peaceful use of space technology on health to the creation of a  new platform for the integration of international space technology and space industry, and contributing to building a community of human destiny.

 

The participants indicated that they will continue to support the International Space Technology Innovation Institute established by the symposium and jointly promote the construction of the International Space Innovation Center, the International Health Center, and the International Astronaut Rehabilitation Center. Everyone agrees that there is a broad prospect and great potential of peaceful use of space technology. In terms of scientific and technological talents, hundreds of astronauts, thousands of scientists and even more researchers around the world will be attracted to station in the Space Innovation Park to form the “Space Innovation Silicon Valley”, which will help China’s “100 Million Talent Project”; in terms of industrial integration, it can promote the effective allocation of the Chinese market and international technology and capital, and finally form a trillion-dollar space economic industrial chain; in terms of people's livelihood and well-being, we can build a medical center 2.0 with international advanced technology to help achieve the healthy China strategy and benefit millions of patients worldwide.
